Fashion moments you might have missed from the royal wedding

Over the weekend, millions of people around the world watched a real life fairytale wedding. American actress, and activist Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, in front of, what looked like, every famous person on the planet. Of course you’ve seen Meghan’s elegant Givenchy gown, and the outrageous hats from throughout the day, (so. many. feathers.), but what else happened? We’ve put together everything you might have missed from the royal wedding, with some big fashion moments.

Moments you might have missed from the royal wedding

Serena kicking her heels off

You’d be forgiven if this is something you might have missed from the royal wedding- it didn’t actually happen during the public part. During the top secret, exclusive after party, Serena Williams swapped high heels for trainers! By, hiding her flats underneath a Valentino dress, the tennis pro is proving that even celebs wear uncomfortable shoes.

Something old, something new and something blue

Speaking of the after party, we caught a glimpse of Meghan’s second outfit. Featuring a gown by British designer Stella McCartney, and bespoke court shoes. The white heels, with a baby blue sole were made especially for Meghan’s big evening. For a touching tribute, Meghan matched the soft blue of her shoes to a aquamarine ring, owned by Harry’s late mum, Princess Diana.

A small gift for small bridesmaids!

Just one of the cutest parts of the day were Meghan’s bridesmaids, aged 3-7. Meghan gifted their white leather shoes, embellished with monograms of their initials and the wedding date. Also featured were flowers that matched the bride’s bouquets.

Even if your wedding won’t be watched by millions, you deserve a wedding day full of personal, intimate touches just like this. Previously, we’ve suggested some ways to personalise your bridal shoes, whether it’s using colour or embellishments.

The reigning fashion icon

The one person I doubt you might have missed from the royal wedding is the Queen. However, at 92 years old, she’s a fashion risk taker and it pays off! Pairing happy hues of purple and lime green created a fashion forward, modest look. Take inspiration from the bold combination featuring the colour of the year, which, we’ve previously given styling tips for.

Regardless of your feelings on the royal family, this day will not be forgotten for a very long time, as I’m sure, you would agree!
