Recently, I was doing some research- hey we’ve all had those afternoons where one meaningless Google search leads to another right? How do you think I know so much about the Kardashians? But, I found myself looking at my family tartan. After seeing dozens of customer orders in beautiful, bright, colourful tartan, I got jealous. Designing your own tartan shoes sounds a lot better when you have a tartan you actually like. Then, I saw a pair of tartan booties which stood out to me.
First of all, a lot of our tartan shoes are bridal designs. Brides want to pay tribute to their family history- or their soon to be in laws- in a sentimental way. But, I thought, (silently, otherwise it would be weird) what if I just want a pair of tartan shoes, just because? Introducing, our Blythe Tartan Booties. The custom tartan is subtle enough for everyday outfits, you can downplay them with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt (my uniform), or dress them up for when you have to be a little fancy.
DESIGNING YOUR OWN TARTAN SHOES
HOW CAN I CUSTOMISE THE BLYTHE TARTAN BOOTIES?
Our lovely customer Moira loved her shoes- and so did we. We made the shoes available on our Shop the Look collection- but what if there’s a few bits you want to chop and change? Well, here’s our 3-D designer. We’ve put together a step by step tutorial of how to design your own tartan shoes with a personal twist.
STEP 1: CHOOSING YOUR SHOE STYLE
Starting on our 3D designer, you have a whole range of choices. For the Blythe Tartan Booties, we’ll select the HIGH HEEL BOOTIES OPTION. However, don’t let the phrase ‘high heel’ put you off, it can be as high or low as you would like- we’ll get to that soon.
STEP 2: WHAT TOE SHAPE IS BEST?
Next, you select your toe shape. Offering a range of toe shapes helps to make your shoe design as comfortable as we possibly can. Choosing between round, pointed- or in between- almond. Many times, I’ve been chatting to women who love pointed toe shoes, but can’t get comfortable in them. Including the times I returned shoes after realising my feet are wide and will not mould into a shoe like PlayDoh, no matter how pretty the shoes are. Whether their feet are too wide, their toes are too long, nothing in the stores has ever worked for them.
However, using our PrecisionFit service, your shoes are made for your feet only- so you don’t have to worry about squeezing or pushing your way into a shoe.
If you’re unsure about all the different types of toe shape, we’ve broken down the benefits and differences in a blog post, (more reading content!) to help you come to a decision.
STEP 3: NOW, CHOOSE YOUR HEEL STYLE
Next, choose the type of heel you’d be walking in. Plus, we give you the option to select the style of the heel as well as the height. The Blythe Tartan Booties have a 4-inch stiletto heel. But, ultimately you should select the height you’re confident with!
Adding a note to your order can solve the problem if you can’t select the height you would like on our dragging tool- just let us know!
STEP 4: SELECTING TARTAN AS YOUR MATERIAL
After you’ve selected the heel style/height and toe shape, you can get round to choosing the material. Our online designer alone features 150+ shades and materials of fabric. When designing your own tartan shoes the possibilities are endless, we also have hundreds more available upon request.
Need a rose gold glitter shade to match the embellishments on a party dress? We can do it. Need an avocado green soft leather to celebrate your best friend redecorating the house? No problem!
For the Blythe Tartan Booties, we’re going to select tartan to cover our shoes. To customise them, you can mix and match. For example, adding a soft leather in a light grey to the heel breaks the shoe up, and puts a little spring in your step.
STEP 5: SHALL WE FIND YOUR CUSTOM TARTAN?
Before, we mentioned a bunch of set ups where you could be wearing tartan. On your wedding day, your prom, a party, or a not so special event. Like a Tuesday in the office. Having a little bit of your family with you everywhere you go makes a great story. The Blythe Tartan Booties are a subtle fashion statement in their versatile, grey pattern. Designing your own tartan shoes can be fun, and finding out your own clan material is great for learning about your family history! Get in touch with us if you would like us to find it for you.
