Here’s the stages of making handmade shoes, specially from our own workshop
Cutting the template for your handmade shoes
First, we cut the shoe pattern, which is unique to every pair of shoes. These include the five elements on our online 3D Designer: upper, the sole, the insole, the outsole and the heel.
Cutting the material you chose for your handmade shoes
Next, we select and cut your chosen material. Our factory holds thousands of shades of various material, so extra care goes into selecting your chosen fabric!
How is the last made for handmade shoes?
If your shoes are a bespoke fit, our shoemakers will create a personalised last based on foot data. While making handmade shoes, the shoemaker considers the above proportions. As the measurements are intensely precise, the slightest difference may make your shoes fit uncomfortably. This stage requires a lot of concentration!
Stitching your handmade shoes together
The next step in making your handmade shoes is stitching the upper together with the lining. The upper is the most visible part of the shoe and the lining provides support, using hundreds of expert stitches.
Using the traditional shoe last
After the initial stitches are completed, the next step in the stages of making handmade shoes is to begin moulding the material to the last. By using the last, the material takes its shape into a shoe.
We’ve nearly finished making your handmade shoes
The midsole is an extra layer of cushioning between the inner sole and the harder outsole. It’s super important for a midsole to be soft- the harder it is, the firmer and heavier the shoe becomes. Our specialist makes sure it’s the perfect firmness for your shoe design.
Fixing the outsole and the heel
Finally, the outsole and heel are fixed onto the shoes. Now we have finished making your handmade shoes!
