Before You Design Your Own Heel, Part 1
Keeping up with fashion can be hard work- there are so many options! Heels or flats? Suede or leather? Beginning to design your own heels, can open up a lot of choices- it can be hard to know exactly what you want. So, before you design your own heels, we’re here to help! First of all, here are some tips on how to choose heel styles and height.
How to choose heel styles and height
What are the different types of heels?
If just the sight of a supermodel in 6 inch heels makes you wince, you may think heels aren’t an option for you. However, there are several types of heel-both high heels and flat-so there’s no need for you to limit yourself. Here’s a few of our more popular heel types:
Wedge Heels:
How high? Typically 4 inches
These are a must have for every holiday suitcase, as they are glamourous and comfy. Typically around 4 inches in height, wedge heels are great for making your legs look longer, the same way high heels do. Although, as there is no gap between the sole and the heel, the larger surface area offers more stability, so, more comfort.
Kitten Heels:
How high? Typically 1-2 inches
Usually, kitten heels are paired with vintage outfits, however, thanks to big fashion houses like Chanel, the classic is trendy again. Plus, to show how versatile they are, we’ve written a blog post on how to style kitten heels, no matter the occasion.
Stiletto Heels
How high? Up to 8 inches
Slim and sharp- stilettos might be the most intimidating type of heel. Women often avoid them, as they expect painful feet throughout the day. But, we want to change that. Check out our blog post on how to get your dream comfortable evening shoes, no matter how high the heel.
Which types of heels are more comfortable?
When you’re thinking about how to choose heel styles and height, your comfort is key! Basically, the wider the heel, the more stable it is. Looking to try a new style?
All of our shoes come with a memory foam sole, so your feet are supported. Plus, additional arch support, to relieve pressure and heel grips to prevent blisters, can be put in your shoes. So, we can take you comfortably out of your comfort zone.
What to do about worn out heels
I know the heartbreaking feeling when your favourite shoes are worn out. Sometimes they’re old, there’s no other option than to let them go. We can bring your old favourites back to life! All we need is a reference photo, or you can send the shoes to us as a guide.
However, we can’t copy the design exactly, due to copyright laws. We can help you to give the shoes a little bit of your personality, so they’re original.
How do I know how high the heels are?
Measuring heels can be a little confusing. For a true height, measure the heel itself from the seam it joining the shoe to the bottom. You shouldn’t include the heel cap (the part that touches your foot)
- Put the shoe on a flat surface
- Measure the perpendicular distance
from the flat surface to the highest point/seam at the back of the heel
Those are our tips for how to choose heel styles and height. Remember, fashion is whatever you feel confident and comfortable in- create your own trends. Begin designing your own heels here today.
