How to Style: Pantone Colour of The Year 2018

I find the start of the new year is always exciting- a fresh start, and new opportunities and design trends. One of the most exciting announcements of the year is the Pantone Colour of the Year. And this year, Ultra Violet, is the colour you need to know about! We’ve put together all you need to know about the shade, featuring our top tips on how to style it, both inside your home and outfits.

Where did the Pantone Colour of The Year come from?

The executive director of Pantone Color Institute, and colour expert, Leatrice Eiseman, said the deep purple hue has spiritual tones. The colour has mystical and magical connotations- so what do you pair with it? Purple is non conforming,so, why not pair it with pastel purple shades for a monochromatic interior? Or, for bold femininity, pair with fuschia.

How to style Ultra Violet, the Pantone Colour of The Year

1. Think Velvet

For a long time, purple has been luxurious. And what’s more luxe than a velvet texture? Add a velvet cushion to your couch for a trendy touch. Want to wear it? Try this crushed velvet bodycon dress, designed by Club L.

2. Go for glitter!

When I see deep purple, I can’t help but think of Jimi Hendrix and boho 70s style. Mixing old 1970s glamour, and rock ‘n’ roll edge, with a statement purple glitter court shoe. Plus, the purple glitter is balanced by the ivory painted heel, available on our 3D designer.

Our painted heel protects your favourite shoes for longer, with a wipe clean, chic glossy heel.

3. Purple dreams!

Don’t be afraid to go monochromatic, and pair ultra violet with other shades of purple. This shade is rich, so pastel lilacs and mauve soften the tone. This colour palette is great all year round, as it matches deeper winter tones with lighter spring hues! So, you can’t go wrong.

4. Be bold and feminine

The Pantone Colour of The Year is bold and confident- so why not go the whole way? Match the shade with a fuchsia pink, for a vibrant outfit. Even in your home, try a pink plant in a ultra violet planter. Adding greenery to your home makes the space feel more open.
