This year’s theme for the 2018 Met Gala was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’. So, who better to make Catholicism haute couture than Rihanna? Co-chair of the dazzling fundraiser, Rihanna was wearing one of the year’s best fashion moments, you may have missed. Taking inspiration from the Pope, Rihanna’s sparkling look was hand sewn with hundreds of sparkling pearls.
So, if you want a celebrity guest to follow a theme- pop star Rihanna is your girl.
Next, the biggest comeback of the year.
After postponing a 2017 headline slot at Coachella when she was pregnant with twins (which is as good a reason as any right?!) Beyoncé returned to the stage. Performing at the American music festival with a HBCU theme, one of the biggest 2018 fashion moments you may have missed is- actually quite a small detail.
Bouncing back to the college theme, Beyoncé wore a varsity cropped silk yellow hoodie, designed specifically by Balmain. Plus, replicas were briefly sold at Balmain’s Paris flagship store- and sold out $500 each. So, definitely a 2018 fashion moment you may have missed because you weren’t quick enough! Paying tribute to the Commonwealth states and her home state of California by embroidering emblems of each into the fabric was a touching gesture and fashionable touch. Following the success of her debut lead in A Star Is Born, Lady Gaga had a true sweep in the style stakes. Deciding against choosing from a rack of dresses, fashion forward Gaga chose an oversized taupe suit by Marc Jacobs- and looked femininely bad ass in a way only Gaga could pull off!
